BASAVIN
Basarabeasca is on the Southern Wine Route and in this locality you can find a wine factory producing red, white, rosé and sparkling wines. It belongs to the Dragnev family, which has forty years of experience in this activity. The grape varieties cultivated and used for wine production include trei fete, fetească neagră, cabernet sauvignon, pinot grigio, chardonnay, traminer... This winery with quality wines has won numerous awards in international competitions such as in Bucharest (2015, 2016, 2017) or Krakow (2017). The vineyards belonging to this estate extend over the localities of Romanovca (originally founded in 1866 by 57 Jewish families), Basarabeasca (with its clay and mineral-rich soils) and Podgoria Via Veliu, which is characterized by its microclimate. The grapes are harvested by hand and the factory strives to follow the most natural processes possible. Basavin's equipment and technology comes from France, as do the oak barrels used to store the wine.
At Chișinău, it is possible to buy Basavin wines from the Basavin distillery at the Vinoteca shop, str. Mihai Eminescu 40. Tastings are organized in this shop in the Moldavian capital but also, of course, at the Basavin estate in Basarabeasca. The place is sometimes animated by festive events allowing to discover its wines. The visit of the domain and its production line is very instructive.
