MUZEUL MUNICIPAL CAHUL
This heritage museum was created in 1958, in a building dating from the 19th century, formerly the seat of the regional court of which Bogdan Petriceicu Hașdeu was president in 1857. You will recognize the museum by its yellow colour and its entrance guarded by two cannons. The museum exhibits approximately 16,000 pieces of undeniable artistic and cultural value, resulting from research, purchases and donations. The rooms are arranged as follows:
Fauna and flora specific to the three southern ecosystems, paleozoological remains reflecting the geological history of the earth (reconstructed scenery a little dusty, but all in all speaking ...). You can admire stuffed deer, hind and foxes.
A history room evokes the social evolution, the presence of men since the Paleolithic in the area with presentation of archaeological pieces such as statuettes, bones, jewellery, pottery... This room covers a period extending to the 19th century.
An important presentation of collections of knives and firearms can be seen.
The history of Cahul from the 15th century to the present day.
Finally, on the right-hand side of the building, a typical southern peasant house (late 19th-early 20th century) was built in 1979. It shows the daily occupations, customs, crafts and tools used in the past. This small house is carefully maintained and gives a clear impression of the peasant life of the time. The museum in Cahul has a branch in the village of Lebedenco.
