LEOVIN S.A.
Wine-growing is an ancient source of livelihood for the inhabitants of the Leova region. The climate and the proximity of the river Prut have created a favourable environment for the cultivation of vines. The Leovin winery was founded in 1903 and in 1996 it became a private company. It is located in the east of the town, near the vocational school. Today it is a modern company with a quality production that preserves traditions and has 200 ha of vineyards. It produces 1.5 million bottles. The grape varieties are cabernet, sauvignon, cabernet franc, merlot, sauvignon blanc, pinot franc, aligoté and muscat otonel. The Muscat de Leova won the bronze medal in 2002 and 2003 at the International Muscat of the World Fair in France. In 2005 Leovin was awarded a gold medal for its merlot considered the best in Moldova. In 2006 a gold medal was awarded to him as the best winery in Moldova. 95% of the production of Leova wines is exported to Romania, Poland, Belarus, Ukraine, Kazakhstan and Russia. You can buy the wines of this estate on the spot. It is possible to find them in some supermarkets or specialized shops in the country or in the capital.
