POBEDA PARK
Tiraspol owes its park, which was created in 1947, to the famous architect Shchoussev (Șciusev), in place of a former orchard on the outskirts of the city. It is one of the emblematic places of the city. The so-called "Victory Park" (also called "Culture and Rest Park") celebrates the victory of the Soviet people during the Second World War. It is characterized by a monumental entrance with a columned portal and well-designed alleys. Attractions (children's games, ferris wheel) and an imposing statue of Grigori Kotovski (Russian Bolshevik born at Hîncești in 1881) punctuate the walk. In 1968 the park became a tourist site and was enriched with a fountain in 1987, a summer stadium in 2000, a "horseshoe" statue in 2014, when finally in 2015 the fences of the park were unsealed. The place is very pleasant, in all seasons, the inhabitants of Tiraspol are accustomed to meet there every day. We like to come with friends, family or lovers to walk, eat an ice cream, picnic ... Public or festive events as well as concerts or shows are sometimes organized in this park. Note a good idea: virtual library terminals exist in this park, you just have to scan the code with your phone to be able to read a book (in Russian) quietly on a bench. The place is very pleasant in spring and summer with beautiful shady alleys. Under the autumn colours or under the snow in winter, the park is very beautiful.
