KVINT
The history of this company goes back to 1897, when it specialized in the production of vodka and wines from the local production of farmers from the neighbouring villages. The production of cognac began in 1938. This was the beginning of the current fame and popularity of the Kvint brand in the Russian and Western markets. Privatized in 2006, the Sheriff group invested 40 million for its modernization. The distillery produces 20 million bottles a year and its cellars store 11 million litres of wines and liqueurs. Kvint owns 2,000 hectares of vines with about thirty grape varieties (Aligoté, sauvignon blanc, chardonnay, alb de Onițcani, alb de Suruceni, pinot blanc, traminer, solaris, riesling, cabernet sauvignon, merlot, pinot noir, negru de Ialoveni, Viorica...). Among the current production, in addition to cognac (called Divin) there are red and white wines, vodka, brandy, apple brandy (the equivalent of calvados) and gin. Divin is available in thirty varieties ranging from three to sixty years old. The spirits are kept in oak barrels aged from three to fifty years. The museum's collection is very interesting. There is a bottle taken into space in 1998 by Russian cosmonauts and a letter of thanks from Pope John Paul II.
In the Kvint shop you can buy alcohol produced by the distillery. Kvint shops can be found at Chișinău and their spirits are sold in many supermarkets in the country.
