ARCHAEOLOGICAL MUSEUM
Very pleasant museum with an interesting collection from the Neolithic to the Roman period
This beautiful museum exhibits a particularly rich collection, ranging from the Neolithic to the Roman period. Highlights include lion claw column bases from the Apollo temple at Faná, numerous statuettes and reliefs of Cybele (a Phrygian goddess), and ceramic miniatures of cats and falcons. Some figurines probably come from a sanctuary of Aphrodite. Also of interest is a famous edict of Alexander the Great to the inhabitants of Chios and a magnificent collection of prehistoric pottery.
