Built in 1745, the Nelson shipyard (the name of the Admiral who came to abriter months during the Bay of Antigua) was active until 1889. At the end of the th century, the importance of Antigua for the British Crown began to decline and the shipyard was abandoned. It is now a testimony to the power of the British Empire, including its various components (Dockyard Museum, Admiral's Inn, etc.) are classified as UNESCO World Heritage.
