FALETTI'S
The hotel first opened its doors in 1880, during the time of the British Raj. Privatized in the 1990s, it reopens in June 2013 after refurbishment. Built in the style of British colonial architecture of the late 19th century, its decoration is also inspired by Victorian and Art Deco styles. Its interior walls and some of its floors are made of Burmese teak parquet, others are covered with marble. The rooms are spacious and decorated with refinement. The hotel also has a well-kept garden in which it is good to land when the heat is not too overwhelming.
Ava Gardner stayed at Faletti's in 1955 while shooting the film Bhowani Junction (one of the suites bears her name), but also Marlon Brando and Jinnah, Pakistan's founding father.
