WAZIR AKBAR KHAN MOSQUE
According to the popular saying, the Wazir Akbar Khan Mosque is like a mole on Lahore's cheek. Built under the reign of the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan, its construction began in 1634 and was completed seven years later. Its brick façade is covered with ceramic tiles in a multitude of colours. Delicately painted and skilful frescoes, graceful mosaics and elegant calligraphy decorate its walls. The Persian influence is very present both in the choice of motifs and in the choice of colours. Everywhere you look, it's a delight! In the middle of the courtyard is a basin used for ablutions, which lets the sun's rays shine; a cloud of birds sometimes comes to cool down. This place is an oasis of beauty in which it is good to settle for an indefinite time before embarking again on the hustle and bustle of the old city of Lahore.
