Gurdwara Dera Sahib is a Sikh temple built to commemorate the place where the fifth Sikhist guru, Guru Arjan Dev, reportedly disappeared in 1606. Tortured for several days by the Mughal Emperor Jehangir, he had begged to be able to take a bath in the Ravi River to soothe his wounds. At that time the river flows flowed up to there. Arjan Dev sank into the waves, and no one ever saw him again.
