GOR KHATRI
Gor Khatri literally means "the warrior's grave". It is a square fortified enclosure with an area of 160 x 160 metres. It was built on the site of old ruins, whose excavation work can be seen. The place, framed by two imposing doors, includes a pleasant garden in which you can escape the hustle and bustle of the city for a while. It also houses a temple dedicated to the god Shiva. Hindus and Buddhists used to come here on pilgrimage, and had their hair and beard shaved as a sign of devotion. A lush banyan tree in which hundreds of birds have made their home offers a shady spot, and a little respite for visitors.
