TAKHT-E-BAHI
Go there and contact
Located about fifty kilometres from Peshawar, this Buddhist monastery founded at the beginning of the 1st century AD is well worth a visit. Takht-e-Bahi ("throne of the spring") is one of the most important Buddhist sites of the Gandhara period. Its location on the top of a hill has allowed it to escape successive invasions and the Buddhist ruins are still extremely well preserved today. Spread over 33 hectares, they include stupas (reliquary monument), meditation cells and a meeting room. The monastery was used until the 7th century AD. It is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Great visit!
