This gothic style church is one of the most beautiful achievements of the mendicant order

This Gothic style church was built between 1283 and 1346. Initially associated with the Dominican monastery, it housed for a long time the Colmar municipal library. This building was intended to give a sense of grandeur. The church of the Dominicans is a sort of large vessel with a wooden ceiling illuminated by 14th century stained glass windows. It is one of the most beautiful achievements of the mendicant order. The centrepiece of the visit is, without a doubt, the famous painting by Martin Schongauer : The Virgin with the Rose Bush (1473).

Honteux de faire payer pour visiter une église!! D’autant plus que dans l’église elle même on retrouve encore des publicités pour des cartes postales et des frais pour les bougies. J’espère que vous êtes fiers de marchander la religion!

2 étoiles pour les jolis vitraux et le tableau de la vierge, mais ça ne vaut pas le détour, l'entrée est payante en plus et le personnel a la caisse (3 personnes pour une si petite eglise!!) pas plus aimable que ca. L'église est vide de toute âme à l'intérieur à part les 2 éléments cités plus haut.

Es werden auch detaillierte Infotexte zu dem Bild in DE, EN & FR zur Verfügung gestellt, da man nur mit Erläuterungen die ganzen Details entdeckt.
