THE FISHMONGER'S WHARF
A Colmar site that was the preferred residence of fishermen in the century.
The Quai de la Poissonnerie is a Colmarian site that cannot be ignored. In the 16th century, the Quai de la Poissonnerie was the privileged place of residence of fishermen: they stored and sold their fish there. In 1706, a fire ravaged more than forty houses. Major renovation work brought to light half-timbering typical of the region. Nowadays, every year, the Covered Market Festival (formerly the Boatmen's Festival) is the delight of Colmarians and tourists alike.
