THE STATION
Visit Colmar railway station, dating from 1907, listed as a Historic Monument
The group of buildings that make up the present Colmar station dates from 1907. It follows 3 other buildings built successively in 1840, 1842 and 1878. At the turn of the 1900s, the increase in traffic was such that the construction of a new station was necessary. For reasons of economy, the architects were inspired by the plans of the Guard of Danzig (Gdansk in Polish) and the work was carried out between 1902 and 1907. In typical Prussian style with its red brick vaulting, the station attracts the eye with its 36 m high belfry. This one overlooks the square decorated with a vast fountain that pours into several interlocking basins. Since December 28, 1984, the traveling building has been listed as a Historic Monument of the city. The SNCF ticket offices are accessible via two entrances on the east and west sides. Regional trains make several round trips daily between Colmar, Strasbourg and Mulhouse. Thanks to the TGV, a little more than 2h30 are enough to reach the capital and barely 3h30 to go to Lyon. In the station concourse, you can get something to eat on the go at the bakery stand and, at the Relay press point, something to keep you busy during your train journey.
