A museum at the rear of Evry's Cathedral de la Résurrection, featuring ancient and contemporary paintings

Created in 1859 by the Société savante d'histoire naturelle (SHN), Colmar's Museum of Natural History and Ethnography is ideal for families with children. It is housed on two floors (11 rooms) in a magnificent historic building, which in turn housed the headquarters of the Corporation des Tailleurs de Pierre in 1467, the Colmar town hall from 1810 to 1886, and various schools. In these venerable premises, young and old alike will enjoy discovering Alsatian fauna (fox, wild boar, badger...), as well as animals from other continents (laughing gull, Guatemalan howler monkey, ash koala...). The herpetology area is dedicated to lizards, ophids, crocodilians and other chelonians: land, freshwater and marine turtles, iguanas, monitor lizards and chameleons, snakes, crocodiles. Shellfish, marine and terrestrial invertebrates and numerous insects are also sure to pique your curiosity. Another interesting feature of the museum is the geology section, which houses an impressive collection of minerals, stones and fossils. The ethnography section presents the cultures of ancient Egypt and Black Africa. The museum also organizes a major thematic exhibition every year. Don't hesitate to visit the website to find out more about the events and exhibitions scheduled for 2025, which will once again be full of surprises and excitement for all ages!
