THE PARK OF THE WATER TOWER
A monument to the sculptor Auguste Bartholdi in Colmar.
Developed in the 19th century, the park surrounds the region's oldest water tower, built between 1884 and 1886 in the German neo-Gothic style. The park was once used by the Société d'Horticulture et de Viticulture for its vineyards and experimental gardens. Numerous trees still bear witness to this past, including an impressive sequoia and a swamp cypress. In 1907, a monument to the sculptor Auguste Bartholdi was erected at the park's southeast entrance. A rose garden featuring 38 varieties embellishes the grounds, making them ideal for strolling and relaxing.
