THE PARK OF THE WATER TOWER
A monument to the memory of the sculptor Auguste Bartholdi which is located in Colmar.
Developed in the 19th century, this park surrounds the oldest water tower in the region, built between 1884 and 1886 in a German neo-Gothic style. The park was once used for the experimental vineyards and gardens of the Horticultural and Viticultural Society. Numerous trees bear witness to this botanical past, including an impressive redwood and swamp cypress. In 1907, a monument in memory of the sculptor Auguste Bartholdi was erected at the south-eastern entrance to the park. A rose garden with 38 varieties embellishes the park, which is ideal for walks and rest.
