FUNDACIÓN DE ASUNCIÓN

Asunción was the first settlement in the Río de la Plata basin. Known as the "Mother of Cities", it was founded in 1537, on Assumption Day, from which it takes its name. The city's anniversary is the occasion for many official celebrations, with speeches, parades and, above all, numerous artistic presentations. The capital's cultural centers, cafés and restaurants take advantage of the occasion to organize festive and gastronomic events throughout the week around August 15, which is a public holiday.
