Casa Hassler is the home of the Swiss doctor, surgeon and botanist Emil Hassler, who studied more than 80,000 plants in Paraguay. Dr. Hassler moved to San Bernardino in 1883, two years after the founding of the city. He lived there until his death in 1937. In this mansion is now the tourist information centre, a cultural centre where shows and exhibitions are held, and a historical museum, where objects, furniture and photographs of the first German settlers who arrived from 1881 are exhibited.
