The church of Atyrá dates back to 1928. It was built on the site of the old church erected at the end of the 18th century. It serves as a place of worship, but also as a museum of sacred art. Inside there is a magnificent polychrome high altar and altarpiece, from the 18th century, with religious images (Our Lady of Sorrows, Our Lady of Candelaria, Francis of Assisi, Saint Lucia, among others), carved by the Guaraní Indians, under the direction of the Franciscan missionaries.
