Built in 1937 on the site of a colonial church, the Tobatí church, located in the middle of a park, contains treasures from the Franciscan period, in particular a magnificent polychrome wooden altarpiece. Among the statues installed in the niches of the altarpiece is the statue of the Immaculate Conception in the centre, the same as that of the Virgin of Caacupé, but much larger (1.5 m high). It was made by the same indigenous craftsman.
