The museum is housed in the house where the famous guitarist Agustín Barrios Mangoré (1885-1944) picked up his first strings. He lived here with his parents until he was 14. This beautiful late 19th-century house has retained its structure, with high ceilings, original woodwork and frescoes. Artists Gil Alegre Núñez and Sebastiana Galeano bought the house in 1994. They turned it into a small museum in honor of Mangoré. Most of the paintings are Gil's own work, and his studio is at the back, in the garden.
