To compensate for the significant loss of wildlife habitat caused by successive rises in the waters of Lake Yacyretá, the Binational Entity (EBY) has undertaken to protect the same area with several nature reserves, including Yacyretá Island, which is open to the public. The guided tour is limited to 80 people (dunes and lagoons) or 30 people (Akuti Po'i trail) and requires prior registration. Visitors discover a beautiful landscape of sand dunes and an easy 2.7 km trail leading to a viewpoint.
