The revellers gather in Pilar, on the banks of the Ñeembucú. Concerts and DJ's thrill the youth until the early hours of the morning.
The "Hawaiian party" is one of the biggest music festivals in the country. It takes place on the beach of the Ñeembucú River on the first Saturday of January, in the middle of the summer holidays. More than 20,000 people in Bermuda shorts, colourful skirts and flower necklaces arrive from all over Paraguay, as well as from neighbouring Argentina (across the Paraguay River), to start the year off with a bang. Starting at 7pm, latino rock or electro pop bands set the crowd on fire, then lively DJs keep the partygoers dancing until the early hours of the morning.
