Huge piece of limestone and coral in the shape of a castle with a 9-ton door and a sundial unique in the world
A visit to this incredible limestone and coral castle built in the 1920s by Edward Leedskalnin, a Latvian sculptor and architect, is not to be missed. His childhood sweetheart ran away the day before their wedding in Latvia and he never recovered. After emigrating to Florida, he devoted 30 years of his life to building this "castle" in the hope that she would one day join him there. Admire the 9-ton door and the unique sundial... The guided tour is fascinating!
