FULFINUM MIRINE
A later Paleochristian complex in Omišalj with numerous remains.
The archaeological site is worth a visit even if it is not so easy to find. Ask the tourist office for a map. In the quiet bay of Sepen, the ancient Roman town of Fulfinum was built for veterans of the Flemish emperors in the 1st century AD. The early Christian complex, Mirine, is later (5th century). There are still many remains on which Croatian scientists are working in collaboration with the French School of Rome. The nearby sea floor still contains fragments of ancient ceramics and stone blocks.
