FULFINUM MIRINE
A later Paleochristian complex in Omišalj with numerous remains.
The archaeological site is well worth a visit, even if it's not so easy to find. Ask the tourist office for a map. In the tranquil bay of Sepen, the ancient Roman city of Fulfinum was built for veterans of the Flavian emperors in the 1st century AD. The Mirine paleochristian complex was built later (5th century). Many remains remain, and Croatian scientists are working on them in collaboration with the École française de Rome. Fragments of ancient ceramics and stone blocks can still be found in the nearby seabed.
