HERITAGE HOTEL MAŠKOVIĆ HAN
Heritage hotel with 2 fully-equipped apartments and 14 rooms decorated in the style of Islamic architecture.
The construction of this caravanserai began in 1644, when the region was under Ottoman rule. Commissioned by a high-ranking Turkish court official, Jusuf Mašković (Silahdar Yusuf Pasha), the complex was intended to serve as a summer residence and inn. On the plan of a fortress with pointed arches at the entrance, a central pavilion, a fountain, it was surrounded by side buildings, a hammam, a mosque. However, the project did not fully materialize during Mašković's lifetime as Sultan Ibrahim executed it in 1646.
After the liberation of Vrana in 1699, his descendants managed to preserve the inn more or less, but the huge partisan fire in 1945 caused great damage.
In the last decade, with the help of UNESCO, it was possible to reconstruct the floor plan, based on the defensive walls, the remains of the eastern and western quarters, the main building and the middle pavilion.
Today, this historic monument is being returned to its original function as a heritage hotel, a contemporary luxury establishment. 14 double rooms and 2 fully equipped apartments. The rooms, on the first floor, are decorated in the style of Islamic architecture. Wooden furniture and tiled floors create a romantic atmosphere, while wellness facilities complete the hotel offer. The restaurant, souvenir store and museum are open to all and provide an insight into this exceptional place.
