FRANCISCAN MONASTERY OF ST. JEROME OF UGLJAN
Monastery on a promontory dating from 1430, with a cloister and a colonnade with ornate capitals. Home for a stay.
On its promontory, the monastery of St. Jerome, Dalmatia's patron saint, was founded in 1430.
In the inner courtyard still stands the epitaph to Šimun Kožičić-Benja (1460-1536), the primate of Rijeka who had the first book printed in Glagolitic. The cloister houses his tombstone and a beautiful colonnade with capitals decorated with plant, animal and human motifs. This is a calm and soothing place to stay.
