MOSQUE ULU CAMII
The Seljuk mosque Ulu Camii, which dates from the late 12th century, represents one of the examples of Artuklu architecture. It was particularly affected by the revolt of the Kurdish people in 1832. Its minaret dates from the 19th century and is one of the most important pieces of the monument. It is cylindrical in shape, has a square base and is visible from the bazaar. The minaret attracts the eye by its fine ornaments, the stone is particularly well worked as for all the historical buildings of Mardin. The view over the Mesopotamian plain is exceptional.
