Visit the ruins of Maasi Castle, built by the Teutonic Knights as a reprisal.
At the4th kilometer on the road to Leisi, 500 m north of the road. On April 23, 1343, the night of St. George's Day, the island's inhabitants rose up against the ruling order. In retaliation, the Teutonic Knights put the islanders to forced labor to build this castle, after the revolt had cost Pöide part of its fortifications. On August 11, 1576, Danish King Frederick II ordered the destruction of the ruined site.
