ST. JACQUES CATHEDRAL (DOM ZU SANKT JAKOB)
Cathedral with superb frescoes on the interior ceiling depicting scenes from the life of Saint James.
Damaged by earthquakes in the 16th and 17th centuries, St James' Cathedral was restored between 1717 and 1724. In baroque style, the cathedral houses the Virgin of Good Help by Lucas Cranach. Every day at 12:10 the bells ring for peace. You will see the canopied mausoleum of Archduke Maximilian III and the beautiful frescoes on the interior ceiling depicting scenes from the life of St. James, painted by Cosmas Damian Asam of Munich.
