Château located 2 km from Bagnoles, with a wooded park accessible all year round and a showroom.

Located three kilometers from Bagnoles-de-l'Orne, Château de Couterne has been in the de Frotté family for 14 generations. Its patron was Jehan de Frotté, poet at the court of Marguerite de Navarre. The building's brick and granite foundations date back to the 16th and 17th centuries. Covering 3 hectares, the French-style park features both short and long paths, with 3 km of wooded alleys featuring different species of trees. The exhibition room, open in summer, features 250 objects retracing the history of the house and the region.

Le chateau ne se visite pas mais on a une visite guidée très intéressante de la salle d'accueil. Il y a des écrits des propriétaires de l'époque, des habits, des livres, etc... on apprend l'histoire du protestantisme où j'ai découvert des choses inconnues. La guide est passionnée par son travail et prend le temps d'expliquer et de répondre aux questions. Je recommande vivement cette visite qui peut se terminer avec l'achat d'un livre écrit par le propriétaire actuel.
