MÜNSTER (CATHEDRAL)

The red brick exterior of the Münster, Villingen's main church, is predominantly Gothic in architecture, dating from the ^13th century (although there is a Romanesque portal from an earlier century). It is a must-see for architecture lovers! Its large side vessels give it a squat appearance; the interior, redesigned in a rather baroque style since the beginning of the ^18th century, is harmoniously adapted to it with notably a stucco ceiling and the paintings on the walls of the central vessel. This mixture of genres bears witness to the city's past.
