PFALZGRAFENSCHLOSS
Seat of what was the residence of the Upper Palatinate Electors during their reign in Neumarkt.
The seat of what was the residence of the Electors of the Upper Palatinate during their reign in Neumarkt. The building was much older and was built under the Electors only on top of pre-existing buildings, and they took advantage of a serious fire in 1520 to rebuild it in an order more in keeping with their status. After the episode of the Electors, it was used as a tobacco factory and even as a prison. The extensive damage caused in 1945 was removed in 1990 when the last restoration work was completed. The large hall is used for events.
