HOSPITAL-SCHENKE
Hospital-Schenke is one of those traditional inns that only Saxons and Thuringians have the secret! This forest inn, located on the right bank of the Mulde, near the woods (about 1 km from the Pöppelmann pedestrian bridge, and pronounced "popul" and not "popel", which means booger in German), was already a favourite Sunday outing for the Grimmaians during the Belle-Epoque period. For the past ten years, those who have taken over this beautiful historical building have put their hearts into restoring to this place all the friendliness and opulence that it had when you came in a carriage to do bombing on Sundays. In a rustic and warm setting, delicious Saxon dishes are served, including meat in sauce, game, stews, schnitzels, hunting or grandmother's specialities. It is worth crossing the Mulde and walking a little to feel this cuisine and forest atmosphere.
