Included on UNESCO's list of the intangible cultural heritage of humanity, the Patum de Berga is a popular festival that originated in the processions and celebrations that accompanied the Corpus Christi Festival in the Middle Ages. For the occasion, theatrical performances and parades of characters bring the city's streets to life. The Tabal (tambourine), the Plens (fire devils), the Turks i Cavallets (cardboard horses) or the eagle and the dwarves with big heads march in turn, lighting fireworks in a joyful collective movement.
