CENTRE GAUDÍ
Unique center that pays tribute to the modernist legacy of Reus and Antoni Gaudi, designed as an interactive space
The Gaudí Center, located above the tourist office, is unique in its kind. It pays tribute to the modernist heritage of Reus and Antoni Gaudí, a native of the city, as much as it explores the life and work of the man. Designed as an interactive space where the senses are stimulated by various installations and audiovisuals, we discover, in wonder, the multiple facets of the brilliant architect. The exhibition is spread over three complementary thematic levels. The third floor, "Gaudí the Universal", puts our eyes, ears and hands to work through a 360° projected film and tactile models (Sagrada Família, the chimneys of La Pedrera, Casa Batlló) presenting the keys to the universal language created by Gaudí. The second floor, called "Gaudí the Innovator", offers a detailed look at the career of the man who was a real workhorse living for his art, through his various inventions and his innovative approach to the architectural profession. Also presented here are some "Gaudinian riddles" in a very entertaining interactive game, as well as the ultimate and unfinished chapter of Gaudí's life, the Sagrada Família. The second floor introduces the visitor to the modernist legacy of Reus through the work of the famous architect Lluís Domènech i Montaner, an emblematic figure of Art Nouveau in Europe, and also highlights the relationship between Gaudí and his native city. The visit ends with a striking audiovisual on the birth of Art Nouveau in Europe.
