MUNICIPIUM S
Located in the village of Komine, about 3 km from the city centre, this archaeological site houses the ruins of an ancient Roman city whose name remains unknown today (we only know that this name starts with a "S"). Testimony of the Roman occupation of the region of the year 150 about the fourth century. This city has not yet been completely overhauled. It has already delivered more than a thousand items including a superb and priceless glass cut (diatreta) dated the th century and currently kept in a safe at the small museum in Pljevlja. Once surrounded by ramparts, which can still be seen the contours, the city included several necropolises in its southern part as well as monumental tombs erected on both sides of its main street. The names engraved on these tombstones have allowed archaeologists to elucidate the mystery of the origins of the inhabitants of this city. According to historians, the population of the city included settlers from Salone (the former capital of Roman Dalmatia whose remains are located near Split, Croatia), as well as migrants from northern Italy.
