A fine arts museum with a highly eclectic collection, innovative exhibitions and a sculpture garden.
Housed in a former neoclassical courthouse, this fine arts museum has been in existence since 1994. Initially devoted to art brut, since 2004 it has presented modern art. In 2012-2013, it underwent its most recent transformation with the addition of an astonishing exhibition hall (a kind of flattened egg) on the roof of the building. The eclectic collection is the work of Dirk Hannema, former director of the Boijmans and founder of the museum, while the temporary exhibitions are innovative. Some works are on display at Het Nijenhuis castle.
