SYNAGOGUE
This synagogue allows the organization of very famous concerts of chamber music and readings
This synagogue dates back to 1705, and was built in the garden of Benjamin Levie, a local merchant. It was the second synagogue to be established on Dutch soil, after the one in Amsterdam. During the Second World War, it was used as a radio storage facility by the Germans, before being severely damaged by a British grenade during the liberation of Walcheren. It was restored almost 30 years ago. The interior is now modern, and is also the venue for renowned chamber music concerts and readings.
