TOWN HALL
Cathedral with Art Nouveau murals from the late 19th century by the artist Antoon Derkinderen
The Stadhuis is located to the south of the market square. Most of it burned down in 1463. Originally a late Gothic building, it was renovated in 1671 in Baroque style, with a classical facade. Its architect, Jan Derkennis, was also involved in the construction of the cathedral. Its tower, built in 1650, has a carillon that chimes every Wednesday between 10 and 11 am. The entrance features late 19th-century Art Nouveau murals by the artist Antoon Derkinderen.
