A 132 m-high statue of the Lorelei, a Germanic mythology, carved from schistose rock and towering above the Rhine.

A little before St. Goarshausen, on the right bank, two arms of the Rhine merge. Here, the Lorelei combs her golden hair tirelessly while reflecting in the river on the small beach. The legend of the Lorelei, a nymph of Germanic mythology, tells that a young girl sang on the banks of the Rhine. The sailors, hearing this sweet and melodious voice, forgot the sometimes violent currents of the river and capsized. This legend has inspired many artists, in France the most famous is certainly Guillaume Apollinaire who paid tribute to her in Alcools "O beautiful Loreley with eyes full of jewels. From which magician do you get your witchcraft? Here, the vineyards mingle with the black rocks, the Rhine is tormented and the road sinuous. The legendary Loreley Rock is a 132 m high schist rock above the Rhine. A path allows you to stop at beautiful panoramic points on the valley. It also passes by the tip of the cliff, from which the beautiful Lorelei is said to have thrown herself. At the top, a multimedia and interactive exhibition immerses you in the myth of the Loreley, as well as the history and culture of the region.
