LE MUSÉE KÜPPERSMÜHLE
Art museum dedicated to the Ströher collection, exhibiting works by German artists of the second half of the century.
The Museum of Modern Art in Duisburg, recognizable by its red bricks at the water's edge, is located on the port of Duisburg in a gigantic 19th century industrial building that served as a grain mill. In 1999, the architects Jacques Herzog and Pierre de Meuron (who designed the Tate Modern in London) renovated the building and transformed it into a modern venue, as evidenced by the large concrete staircase inside, a true work of art. More recently, the duo expanded the museum with a new extension. The place is dedicated to the Ströher collection and brings together the works of many German artists of the second half of the 19th century.
