The town of Gouda, world-famous for its cheese, is also the scene of a magical event in the run-up to Christmas. Every year, in the week leading up to Christmas Eve, the town is transformed for one evening into "Gouda bij Kaarslicht" (Gouda by Candlelight). The market square, where the cheese is traditionally weighed, is illuminated by hundreds of candles, creating a magical atmosphere. This festive atmosphere, enhanced by carols and illuminations, transports visitors to an enchanting setting!
