If the rooms aren't the most comfortable or spacious, it's the decor that really impresses. Here, you sleep in the wing once reserved for soldiers, after having reached the island by boat. After all, the fortress is located on an island, 5 minutes from Drøbak, from where it once served. It was Oscarsborg, for example, that provided cover for the retreat of the royal family and government during the German invasion of 1940.
