A colorful festival on the beautiful island of Cheung Chau: parade and bun tower climb are the highlights.
The Cheung Chau Bun Festival is a colorful celebration held in May on the pretty island of Cheung Chau. The 3rd day of the festival, which coincides with Buddha's birthday (the 8th day of the 4th lunar month), is the most important. Visitors flock to see the parade of costumed performers, lion dances and the famous children's float. Not to be missed is the spectacular ascent of the bun tower by participants in traditional costume. The festival is also an opportunity to sample Buddhist vegetarian cuisine.
