Zaragoza, also known as Zaragoza, is a Spanish city on the banks of the River Ebro, halfway between Madrid and Barcelona. With a population of 673,010 in 2022, it is the fifth-largest city in Spain. Zaragoza is famous for its history and heritage, including the Palacio de la Aljafería, the San Pablo church and part of the cathedral, which have been UNESCO World Heritage Sites since 2001. The city has also played an important role in history, with the signing of a treaty in 1529 between the Spanish and Portuguese to share the discoveries of the New World. Zaragoza enjoys a dry continental Mediterranean climate, with temperatures varying significantly according to the season. Precipitation is low, with an annual rainfall of just 317 mm. The city offers many tourist activities, including visits to the Pilar Basilica and the stone bridge over the Ebro, as well as opportunities for water sports such as scootering and water skiing.
