GOYA MUSEUM - IBERCAJA COLLECTION
Museum in the emblematic palace of the Renaissance in Zaragoza, articulated in five spaces in Zaragoza
After a renovation carried out in 2015, the former Ibercaja Museum became the current Goya Museum. Housed in the beautiful palace, emblematic of the Renaissance in Zaragoza, which belonged to Jerónimo Cósida, this new building is structured around five spaces. On the first floor, two audiovisuals present the work of Francisco de Goya, and the second floor houses "Goya's predecessors", with a focus on Spanish religious painting of the Baroque period. On the second floor is the Goya room, which presents a selection of his works, allowing us to follow the evolution of his painting through paintings such as The Glory, Self-portrait or essays for the 2nd of May. On this floor there is also a complete collection of his engravings from the series The Caprices, The Disasters of War, Bullfighting and The Disparates, as well as the lithographs of The Bulls of Bordeaux. Extremely well presented in context via interactive panels. The last floor presents Goya's disciples and imitators. On the second floor, you can also enjoy the temporary exhibitions. The beauty of the space and the richness of the collections make a double visit essential in order to really appreciate the whole. The museum has also updated its website with a YouTube channel of more than 800 documentary videos that allow visitors to discover the entire permanent Goya collection.
