CHÂTEAU DE L'AIGLE
Château built around 1690 with formal gardens, whose outbuildings house a museum and tourist office
Construction of the château began around 1690, on the site of the former medieval fortress built in the early 11th century by Fulbert de Beina. The plans were drawn up by Jules Hardouin-Mansart (grand-nephew of François Mansart), Louis XIV's first architect, resulting in late 17th-century classical architecture and formal gardens arranged in 3 terraces leading down to the Risle River. Inside the dwelling (now the Town Hall), you can admire a stone and wrought-iron staircase. One of the wings houses the June 44 museum.
