STONE FIELD FORGES
A listed forge created by Claude de Broon to supply nail makers, locksmiths and hardware manufacturers.
Until the 19th century, this small hamlet was home to important forges which made its prosperity. Created by Claude de Broon in 1572 on his seigneury of Champ de la Pierre and Joué-du-Bois, the forges remained in this family until the 17th century, passing in 1702 to the Ricœur de Bâmont. Iron was extracted from the open air. The forges supplied nail makers, locksmiths, and hardware manufacturers. Splendid, they are classified as historical monuments.
